Eating in the New Year

What a feast!!! We held our 2nd Annual New Year’s Eve bash last night and it was a wonderful event. Our good friends, Steve & Laurel Rodd, helped us host the party. After spending 10 years living in France, Steve is an incredible French chef. We had a 6 course meal. Here’s a quick summary:
1st- appetizers (smoked salmon & bacon/cheese dip)
2nd- cheese bisque with homemade rolls
3rd – bacon-wrapped stuffed mushrooms and salad with homemade vinegrette
4th – Shrimp wrapped in a crepe and covered with a cream sauce
5th – Duck Flambee – breast of duck with a wonderful gravy/cream sauce served with mashed potatoes
6th – Desserts – Homemade Cherry Pie and Chocolate Mousse

When Steve did the flambee thing there were flames everywhere. It was pretty cool! Here’s a picture of Steve preparing the stuffed mushrooms. We were having so much fun, that we didn’t get around to eating the main course until about 12:15.

It is so good to enjoy good food combined with good friends. As I laid in bed at around 2am, I was reminded of the feast that we will have in heaven someday. If this is only a glimpse of that, then I can’t wait!!! Posted by Hello

Aggies’ have a big test today in Dallas

Cotton BowlToday is the Cotton Bowl and we get to find out if the Aggies are for real against a non-Big XII opponent. A good showing would go a long way for some national respect and recruiting. Next year looks like it will be a good one for the Ags either way since almost everyone is coming back!!!

I’ve been scrambling trying to find a place to watch the game here in Budapest. There are two sources of College Football and neither of them are carrying the Cotton Bowl. They both have the Outback Bowl instead !@#$%^. I don’t understand that one. I guess I’ll have to settle for radio (assuming I can find a place to listen). New Years is a bad day to be overseas if you are a football fan.
