Get me outta here!!!!

All spring I’ve been looking forward to our family’s trip to the US this summer. It marks two years of living and doing ministry here in Budapest. Since I’ve been back a few times since we lived here, I have mixed emotions about going home. It is going to be a very busy summer, but it will be great to see our family and friends. Our summer in Budapest last year was wonderfully relaxing and nothing can top our trip to the beach in Croatia so at times I’ve wished I could spend summer in both places.

I had mixed emotions until . . . the HEAT came. For the last week, the temperature here in Budapest has been almost exactly the same as Orlando. In fact, we were hotter than Orlando for a couple of days. The big problem with this is . . . NO AIR CONDITIONING. Our house doesn’t have it, our church doesn’t have it, my car doesn’t have it . . . I’m typing this in my office which does have it and I’m considering moving in for the week.

Yesterday morning at church, it was hard to concentrate on the service because it was so hot. Then, we came home to a house that was equally as hot. We have fans, but circulating hot air just creates a convection oven effect. Then, to top it all off, I woke up this morning at 4:30am. It is already daylight at that time, but usually I can go back to sleep. This morning it was just too hot. I tossed and turned until 5 and then went downstairs where it is a little cooler. It is going to be a long day and I’m already dreading bedtime tonight.

Yes, it is hot in Texas and Orlando (where we will be this summer), but there you go from the AC in the house, to the AC in the car, to the AC in the stores, to the pool!!! 7 more days and AC here we come!!!
