Eating in the New Year

What a feast!!! We held our 2nd Annual New Year's Eve bash last night and it was a wonderful event. Our good friends, Steve & Laurel Rodd, helped us host the party. After spending 10 years living in France, Steve is an incredible French chef. We had a 6 course meal. Here's a quick summary:
1st- appetizers (smoked salmon & bacon/cheese dip)
2nd- cheese bisque with homemade rolls
3rd - bacon-wrapped stuffed mushrooms and salad with homemade vinegrette
4th - Shrimp wrapped in a crepe and covered with a cream sauce
5th - Duck Flambee - breast of duck with a wonderful gravy/cream sauce served with mashed potatoes
6th - Desserts - Homemade Cherry Pie and Chocolate Mousse

When Steve did the flambee thing there were flames everywhere. It was pretty cool! Here's a picture of Steve preparing the stuffed mushrooms. We were having so much fun, that we didn't get around to eating the main course until about 12:15.

It is so good to enjoy good food combined with good friends. As I laid in bed at around 2am, I was reminded of the feast that we will have in heaven someday. If this is only a glimpse of that, then I can't wait!!! Posted by Hello
